SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a drying technique using inert particles, namely to dryers with an active hydrodynamic mode, designed for drying crushed plant materials in a suspended swirling layer of inert particles, and can be used in the production of food products intended for long-term storage of medicines, etc. The combined polydisperse inert carrier for drying crushed plant materials in a suspended layer is made of a polymeric material and has conical protrusions, while the internal volume of individual particles to ensure the polydispersity of the inert particles by weight and shifting the center of gravity is made of two equal halves, one of which is monolithic, and the second is made of foamed polymer of different density within the range of 200…1200 kg/m3.

EFFECT: invention should intensify the process of convective drying by increasing the specific heat and mass transfer surface, the specific amount of wet material being carried, as well as improving the quality of distribution of wet material over the surface of an inert carrier and the conditions for removing dried material.
