The medical device worn on the body contains battery contact elements, a capacitor and a control unit. Moreover, the control unit contains a battery testing unit made with the possibility of testing the battery, including the determination of the first voltage U1 of the capacitor at the first time t1, the determination of the second voltage U2 of the capacitor at the second time t2, the passage of the test current between the first time t1 and the second time t2. In this case, the first time t1 is determined by the beginning of the passage of the test current, and the second time t2 is determined in such a way that when the test current passes, the voltage U of the capacitor takes a steady nature and becomes essentially unchanged. The degree of charge of the battery is determined from the voltage difference between the first voltage U1 of the capacitor and the second voltage U2 of the capacitor and/or from the time difference between the first time t1 and the second time t2. A method for testing the battery is also stated.
