FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to the field of biotechnology, specifically to non-naturally occurring cysteine knot peptides (CKP), and can be used in medicine. The invention makes it possible to obtain new peptides capable of efficient VEGF-A binding and inhibiting. Peptides in accordance with the present invention contain a cysteine knot and are capable of forming an intramolecular scaffold that enhances the overall protein stability.
EFFECT: invention can be applied in medical practice for treatment of ocular diseases characterized by abnormal angiogenesis and abnormal vascular permeability.
