FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the biomedical sciences and can be used in the medical diagnostics of diseases of the cardiovascular system. The method for identifying platelets in histological preparations includes fixing the preparation in 10% formalin for 24 hours at room temperature, subjecting to the dehydration procedure, enclosing in paraffin, preparing histological sections with a thickness of 5 to 10 mcm, applying said sections to adhesive slides, removing paraffin in xylene, processing with alcohols of a decreasing concentration, washing for 5 minutes in a 3% aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide at room temperature, exposing for 5 minutes in a 0.01 M phosphate-buffered saline with a pH of 7.4, exposing the preparations with a blocking solution for 10 minutes at room temperature. After exposing the histological preparations with a blocking solution, the solution is therein drained and, without washing the preparations, a mixture of antibodies to the von Willebrand factor is applied thereon at a concentration of 3.3 to 4.0 mg/l. The preparations are then placed in a wet chamber and incubated in a thermostat. Then the preparations are washed in a phosphate-buffered saline. The slides are padded dry with filter paper. Secondary antibodies against rabbit immunoglobulins are applied. The slides are placed in a wet chamber and put in a thermostat. A working solution of 3,3'-diaminobenzidine tetrahydrochloride is applied thereon, sustained, then the preparations are washed with distilled water in three passes, the preparations are dehydrated in alcohols of an ascending strength, brightened in xylene, and enclosed in a water-soluble medium. Light microscopy is then performed. Platelets are therein identified, stained brown.

EFFECT: method is easily reproduced, can be used for researching archival material stored in paraffin blocks, processing thin sections.
