FIELD: treatment of water.

SUBSTANCE: invention is intended for capturing and removing a sifted material from process water. The unit (11) comprises a sifting apparatus with a sifting surface (3), wherein the process water (2) passes through said surface during operation of the sifting apparatus and said surface at least partially retains the sifted material (1) from the process water (2). The unit (11) comprises at least one sensor (7) configured to track the sifted material (1) in the upstream area relative to the sifting surface (3) and/or in the area of the sifting surface (3), and a regulator (8) configured to issue a message if the sifted material (1) exhibits one or more characteristics determined and identified by the sensor (7). Also proposed is a method for operation of the corresponding unit (11), as well as a system containing such a unit.

EFFECT: avoided clogging by the sifted material, eliminated damage to the unit.
