FIELD: testing.

SUBSTANCE: present group of inventions relates, in general, to verification of a meter and, more specifically, to determining the attenuation characteristic of the metering unit of a flow meter. Provided is electronic measuring equipment (20) for determining the attenuation characteristic of the metering unit (10) of a flow meter (5). The measuring electronic equipment (20) comprises an interface (201) for receiving a response vibration from the metering unit (10), the response vibration comprises a response to the excitation of the metering unit (10) with a practically resonant frequency, and a processing system (203) in connection with the interface (201). The processing system (203) is configured to receive a response vibration from the interface (201), determine the response voltage (V) of the response vibration, determine the attenuation characteristic (ζ) of the metering unit (10) based on the response voltage (V), and compensate for the attenuation characteristic (ζ) using a previously determined ratio of the attenuation characteristic and the response voltage.

EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of determining the attenuation characteristic of the metering unit.
