FIELD: reclamation of contaminated soil.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for reclamation of solid household waste storage areas in small localities and is intended for protecting ground waters from contamination. Method for reclamation of a solid household waste storage area includes equipping an open contour drainage and excavating a container for collecting and removing water. The surface of the waste is therein levelled and a clay suspension is applied thereto. After a process break needed to form an anti-filtration screen due to the mudding of the underlying soil layer, an insulating cover is laid over the waste, made of alternating layers of water-impermeable and draining materials, with the surface inclined towards the container. Levees are filled along the contour of the insulating cover. The container is located at the outlet of ground waters from under the waste disposal site, and drainage ditches are connected with the container, ensuring free flow of water therefrom into the container. A geotextile sheet is spread on the bottom of the container and covered with a layer of a coarse material in the form of gravel or crushed stone.

EFFECT: increase in the effectiveness of measures for reclamation of a solid household waste storage area due to the prevented contamination of ground waters with substances contained in the waste.
