FIELD: fibres.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing composite carbon-silicon carbide fibres with a “core-skin” structure, wherein the core consists of carbon and the skin is formed by submicrocrystalline silicon carbide and is essentially uniform in thickness along the entire fibre, based on incomplete conversion of carbon fibres into silicon carbide by siliconising in a gas atmosphere containing silicon monoxide (SiO), characterised by the fact that siliconising is performed in conditions of negligibly low concentration gradients of the siliconising reagent of SiO gas and the gaseous product of CO gas, realised while slowly removing the gases from the reaction volume; the siliconising heat treatment of carbon fibres is performed in a semi-closed reactor, provided on the inside with a special chemical gas exchange section wherein a granular mixture containing silicon and silicon dioxide is placed, generating SiO gas when heated and binding the CO gas formed in the course of conversion of the carbon fibre material into silicon carbide; heat treatment is performed in conditions of continuous vacuum pumping of the gaseous products at a temperature of 1,300 to 1,400°C until the SiO gas is no longer generated due to the consumption of the active components of the reaction mixture loaded into the chemical gas exchange section.
EFFECT: production of composite carbon-silicon carbide fibres with a “core-skin” structure.
