The pumping device is designed to be used with a double breast pump containing two sets for pumping, each of which is designed to affect the breast of the user of the device with a pressure profile and with the possibility of receiving milk expressed from the breast. The pumping device contains: a pump made with the possibility of creating a pressure profile in the specified sets for pumping, and the first air channel and the second air channel. Each air channel is designed with the possibility of providing an air connection of the pumping set with a pumping device. The first air duct is designed to be connected to the suction side of the pump and disconnected from it using the first suction switching mechanism. The first air channel is designed to be connected to the pump outlet side and disconnected from it using the first outlet switching mechanism. The second air channel is designed to be connected to the suction side of the pump and disconnected from it using a second suction switching mechanism. The second air channel is designed to be connected to the pump outlet side and disconnected from it using a second outlet switching mechanism. The first air channel and the second air channel are designed to be connected to each other and disconnected from each other directly by means of an intermediate switching mechanism located between the air channels in a bypass position relative to the pump. The double breast pump and the method for operation of the pumping device are disclosed.
