SUBSTANCE: breast pump comprises an expressing kit containing a breast-accommodating funnel, a milk outlet, and an air outlet. The vacuum unit is configured to implement a pressure cycle in the expressing kit and comprises an air inlet for connection with the air outlet in the expressing kit and a pumping mechanism for suctioning air from the expressing kit through the air outlet in the expressing kit and the air inlet in the vacuum unit. The system for audio evaluation of milk expression comprises an audio sensor and a processor configured to process the audio signal received from the audio sensor during operation of the breast pump, when a container for receiving milk from the milk outlet in the expressing kit is used together with the breast pump. The processor is configured to process the audio signal received from the audio sensor during operation of the breast pump, according to the program ensuring determination of the value of the duration of time between the moment of release and the first moment after the moment of release wherein a hop occurs in the audio signal, the moment of release constitutes the moment wherein the vacuum is weakened during the pressure cycle and wherein the corresponding milk release occurs from the position in the expressing kit and through the milk outlet.

EFFECT: ensured determination of the total volume of expressed milk.
