FIELD: metal reduction.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method and device for direct reduction of metals. The method for direct reduction of metal oxides (2) is carried out using a reducing gas, which is based on a precursor gas (15, 22), which is based on a reforming gas obtained by catalytic reforming of a hydrocarbon-containing gas (4) in a reforming unit (3). In the preparation of the reducing gas, the precursor gas based on the reforming gas is heated by electric energy. At least a partial amount of electrical energy is introduced into the precursor gas (15, 22) by plasma (16). The device (1) for direct reduction of metal oxides (2) by reducing gas includes a catalytic reforming unit (3) for the production of reforming gas, a reforming gas line (5) for removing reforming gas from the catalytic reforming unit (3), a reduction unit (9), a reduction gas line (8) for the introduction of reducing gas into the recovery unit (9) and the precursor gas line (6). Moreover, the precursor gas line leaving the reforming gas line includes a device (7, 10, 17) for electric heating of the gas, and the precursor gas line (6) exits the reforming gas line (5) and enters the reduction gas line (8). In this case, the electric gas heating device (10) includes at least two plasma burners.
EFFECT: increase in production capacity is provided.
