FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention is provided for direct reduction of iron in plasma melting furnace with usage of apparatus for blowing of hydrocarbon gases into plasma jet. Process of melting of iron oxides is implemented by oxidising plasma jet with mass correlation of oxygen consumption to consumption of natural gas 1.5-2.5. After total melting of oxides into plasma jet after cut of plasmatron nozzle it is additionally fed natural gas, at conversion of which it is formed hydrogen and pyrocarbon. Before discharge of finished metal it is stopped feeding of natural gas on plasma jet, and composition of orifice gas it is installed with mass correlation of oxygen consumption to consumption of natural gas 0.8-1. Device contains plasmatron of indirect action (1), anodic nozzle of which is co-axial located relative to cylindrical bushing, rigidly fixed in casing. Casing from one side is connected to clamps with plasmatron (1), and from the other - to caisson (9), and is installed open relative to butt plane of plasmatron (1) with formation of cavity, connected to inlet manifold of hydrocarbons and communicated to inner hollow of cartridge case.
EFFECT: high rate of metal restoration from melt ensured by increasing of amount of reducing gas at stage of final restoration.
