FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to therapeutic nutrition and concerns a nutritional composition that can be used in the treatment and recovery after traumatic brain injury (hereinafter – TBI) and symptoms associated with it, as well as to the use of such a composition and a treatment method using it. The proposed enteral nutritional composition includes (a) a lipid fraction, (b) a fraction of digestible carbohydrates and (c) a protein fraction, where the lipid fraction includes therapeutically effective amounts of: (i) DHA and optionally EPA, and (ii) 1-10% by wt.% of medium-chain triglycerides based on the weight of fatty acids, where the content of C8 and C10 medium-chain triglycerides is at least 2 wt.% based on the weight of fatty acids; in this case, the composition has a ketogenic mass ratio from 1.8:1 to 2.7:1. The use of such a composition in obtaining a product for the treatment of traumatic brain injury, as well as a method for the treatment of TBI, including the injection of this enteral nutritional composition to a patient, are proposed.

EFFECT: use of the above-mentioned ketogenic nutritional composition provides a significant improvement of neurological and brain functions after TBI.
