FIELD: detection systems.
SUBSTANCE: system for the detection of damage to glass surface (10) contains sensor unit (14) located next to surface (10) and containing a set of sensors configured to detect different parameters. The system contains processor (16) connected to sensor unit (14). Processor (16) is configured to analyze data received from sensor unit (14) to determine integrity of surface (10). The system contains communication unit (18) configured to output a signal in response to the detection by processor (16) of damage to surface (10). When determining whether surface (10) is damaged, processor (16) is configured to use a check step providing that the damage is indicated using the set of sensors of sensor unit (14). A method for the detection of damage to the glass surface is also proposed.
EFFECT: automatic detection of chips is achieved.
