FIELD: veterinary medicine.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to an in vitro method for early detection of an outbreak of necrotic enteritis in a bird population, wherein the method includes a) collection of fecal sample material obtained from a bird population at successive points in time and b) determination of the quantitative ratio of the marker genes netB and cpa contained in the sample material obtained at stage a); where the reversal of the quantitative ratio of netB and cpa over time is an early sign of an outbreak of necrotic enteritis.
EFFECT: expansion of the range of methods for diagnosing necrotic enteritis in birds.
