FIELD: chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the chemical, pharmaceutical, food and other industries and can be used to obtain high quality microcrystalline cellulose (MCC). The method for bleaching microcrystalline cellulose obtained by the gas-phase method using hydrogen chloride provides for bleaching in two stages. At the first stage, microcrystalline cellulose is bleached with hydrogen peroxide at pH 8-11, a temperature of 50-80 °C for 1-3 hours at an active oxygen consumption of 4-10 g/kg of MCC, and at the second stage, bleaching with sodium hypochlorite at a pH of 2- 4 for 30-60 minutes at a consumption of active chlorine of 0.5-1.5 g/kg of MCC.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to partially replace chlorination by bleaching with peroxides and to improve the quality of a commercial product due to a high degree of whiteness.
