METHOD FOR CONTINUOUS PRODUCTION OF MICROCRYSTALLINE CELLULOSE Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC C08B15/02

Abstract RU 2804640 C2

FIELD: pharmaceutical; food; other industries.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to obtain microcrystalline cellulose (MCC). The claimed method for the continuous production of microcrystalline cellulose includes hydrolysis of cellulose with sulfuric acid and subsequent bleaching of the MCC suspension with sodium hypochlorite. Moreover, hydrolysis is carried out on a suspension obtained by hydromilling cellulose with water with a solids concentration of 6-10%, which is continuously fed into a cascade of communicating flow reactors with agitators operating at a temperature of 140-170°C and a pressure of 0.4-0.7 MPa. Next, the suspension is continuously mixed with sulfuric acid in the first reactor to achieve an acid concentration of 0.25-0.75% , the MCC suspension is continuously taken from the last reactor, it is cooled to 40-60°C and subjected to continuous bleaching of MCC with sodium hypochlorite at a consumption of sodium hypochlorite of 4-6 g per 1 kg of cellulose in terms of active chlorine, bleaching time of 40-120 minutes and suspension pH of 1.5-2.0 in a cascade of containers with stirrers, followed by washing, dehydration, granulation and drying of MCC.

EFFECT: invention provides specific productivity of the process up to 200 kg MCC per hour while reducing heat consumption for the process by 50%.
