FIELD: hydrometallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the hydrometallurgy of rare metals, and specifically to the technology of processing bismuth-containing materials to obtain bismuth compounds. Bismuth nitrate of the basic composition [Bi6O5(OH)3](NO3)5⋅3H2O is treated with sodium hydroxide solution at a molar ratio of sodium hydroxide to basic bismuth nitrate equal to 6.0-12.5, followed by treatment of the resulting bismuth oxide with an aqueous solution of lactic acid with a concentration of 0.25-1.0 mol/l in the presence of salicylic acid at a molar ratio of salicylic acid to bismuth oxide equal to 2.1-2.30, and at a temperature of 60-85°C. The resulting bismuth salicylate basic composition BiC7H5O4 is washed with water and dried at a temperature of 90–100°C.
EFFECT: obtaining a product with a content of nitrate ions less than 0.05%.
