SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in determining the absorption coefficients of transparent film-forming materials, mainly for laser gyroscopic mirrors. A method for determining the absorption coefficients of transparent film-forming materials consists in directing laser radiation at a mirror and determining the total radiation loss Loss before and radiation scattering loss Sbefore, measuring the radiation transmission loss τbefore and then applying a half-wave or multiple layer of transparent film-forming material and measuring the total radiation loss Loss after, scattering loss radiation Safter and radiation transmission losses τafter, after which the radiation losses are determined, related only to the absorption before and after the application of the layer and the coefficient k(λ) of absorption of film-forming materials is determined.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of determining the absorption coefficient of transparent film-forming materials.
