FIELD: measuring.

SUBSTANCE: area of application: determining the stages of cyclic fatigue and the residual operating life of metal items using the acoustic emission method and the metal magnetic memory method.The substance of the invention consists in determining the parameters of the magnetic field intensity by the metal magnetic memory method and the parameters of acoustic emission signals in the process of cyclic fatigue testing, and establishing a connection between said parameters. Preliminary testing is therein conducted on multiple samples from a batch of items in order to find a correlation dependence between the parameters of acoustic emission and magnetic field intensity. The resulting correlation dependence is then used to control the entire batch by the magnetic memory method without constantly monitoring the items by the acoustic emission method.

EFFECT: possibility of determining the stages of cyclic fatigue and the predicted residual operating life of metal items or structural elements during operation by the magnetic memory method without constantly monitoring by the acoustic emission method.
