FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, in particular, to a method for producing a titanium-aluminium alloy. Method for producing a titanium-aluminium alloy includes the stages of: a) adding TiCl4 and AlCl3 to a molten electrolyte in a protective atmosphere, wherein said molten electrolyte constitutes a mixture of at least one alkali metal chloride or alkaline earth metal chloride and an alkali metal fluoride, the amount of added alkali metal fluoride is from 10 to 90 wt.% of the electrolyte, and the amount of added alkali metal fluoride is at least 6 times greater than the molar sum of Ti and Al in TiCl4 and AlCl3; b) subjecting the resulting mixture to electrolysis at a voltage of 3.1 to 3.2 V ensuring the formation of a cathode product containing a titanium-aluminium alloy, and c) performing vacuum distillation of the cathode product in order to remove the electrolyte and produce a titanium-aluminium alloy for at least 5 hours, wherein the vacuum distillation temperature is higher than the melting points of the alkali metal fluorotitanate and alkali metal fluoroaluminate contained in the electrolyte and formed during electrolysis, and the vacuum level during vacuum distillation is less than 0.1 Pa.
EFFECT: duration of the process of alloy production is reduced.
