FIELD: neutron physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a cold neutron storage device. The accumulator of neutrons emitted by a pulsed source has two neutron moderators. The neutron-guide channel has a rectangular cross-section 4 and is surrounded by external lateral 5, upper 10 and lower 11 mirror-reflecting walls. The lock 7 is part of the lateral wall 5. The first room temperature moderator 2 is located near the neutron source 1. The second moderator 8 is located in the vacuum chamber 3 close to the lock 7, the surface facing the lock 7 has a concave cylindrical shape, repeating the shape of the outer lateral wall. The second moderator has a lower temperature than the first, for example, liquid nitrogen or liquid helium.
EFFECT: increase in the density of cold neutrons from a pulsed source in the storage.
