FIELD: testing technology.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method for detecting leaks in a liquefied gas tank. The tank contains a membrane surrounding the liquefied gas, the membrane is surrounded by an insulating space separating the membrane from the wall, and the insulating space is filled with inert gas supplied and discharged through one pipeline. The method contains steps in which first change 921 in the ΔM1 mass of an inert gas between two time points is determined by measuring the amount of gas added and withdrawn through the pipeline. Next, second change 922 in the ΔM2 mass of the inert gas, corresponding to the difference between the two masses of the inert gas measured in the insulating space, is calculated. Next, first change 931 is compared with the second change and an alert is carried out if the difference E1 between the first change and the second change in the mass of the inert gas exceeds the first threshold value S1.
EFFECT: use of one inert gas and the detection of leakage in a sealed thermal insulation tank.
