SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mechanical engineering, can be used in manufacture of metal products with channels for various purposes, and is intended for extracting metal tool fragments from channels. Method for extracting a metal tool fragment from a channel of a heat exchanger with a soldered joint includes the stages of inserting an electrode into said channel of the item until contact with the metal tool fragment, creating a welded joint between the metal tool fragment and the electrode, and removing the metal tool fragment from the channel of the item by means of the electrode, wherein welding wire is used as an electrode, prior into inserting the electrode into said channel, the electrode is insulated, covering the entire surface thereof up to the open contact end, wherein an adapter is welded to the other end of the electrode for connecting a welding torch, and the welded joint is created by means of a welding torch for manual argon arc welding.

EFFECT: quick and reliable extraction of metal tool fragments stuck in hard-to-access internal channels of items and eliminated possibility of arc discharges in the channel, ensuring the integrity of surfaces of the channel and soldered joints.
