FIELD: ammonia removing process.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for removing ammonia from an ammonia-containing purge gas from a urea plant. The method includes: a) contacting said ammonia-containing purge gas with a carbon dioxide stream; b) cooling at least one of the following: said ammonia-containing purge gas prior to interaction with said carbon dioxide stream, said carbon dioxide stream prior to interaction with an ammonia-containing purge gas, a mixture of purge gas and carbon dioxide, obtained in the reaction step a), c) in the thus obtained cooled mixture of purge gas and carbon dioxide, at least some of the ammonia contained in the purge gas is reacted to form one or more ammonium salts and a multi-phase mixed stream is obtained, containing ammonium salts, and d) removing said ammonium salts from said mixed stream. The invention also relates to a device.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to efficiently remove ammonia from purge gas containing inert gas.
