FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to catalysis. Described is a catalyst for alkylation of benzene with propylene to isopropylbenzene, characterized by that it contains sodium oxide as a modifying component, zeolite Hβ with molar ratio SiO2/Al2O3=25 and binder γ-Al2O3, which is aluminum hydroxide Pural SB with the following ratio of components, wt.%: sodium oxide — 0.1–0.5, zeolite Hβ with molar ratio SiO2/Al2O3=25 — 39.80–69.93, binder γ-Al2O3 — balance. Described is a method of producing said catalyst, characterized by mixing zeolite Hβ powder with molar ratio SiO2/Al2O3=25 with boehmite Pural SB, obtained mass is peptized with 5 wt.% solution of nitric acid with addition of triethylene glycol, distilled water is added in portions until a homogeneous mass is obtained, mixed, obtained paste is formed, extruded, dried in air for 10–12 hours, dried at temperature of 60 °C, 80 °C and 110 °C for 2 hours at each temperature and calcined at temperature of 550 °C for 5 hours, on obtained zeolite granules by wet impregnation method, sodium oxide is applied from aqueous solution of sodium nitrate, stirred at room temperature for 2–3 hours, dried for 2 hours at 60 °C, 2 hours at 80 °C, 2 hours at 110 °C and calcined at temperature of 550 °C for 5 hours.

EFFECT: high catalytic activity of the catalyst and its mechanical strength.
