METHOD FOR ADJUSTING THE LEVEL OF OZONE PRODUCTION BY A LOW-PRESSURE UV LAMP Russian patent published in 2022 - IPC A61L9/20

Abstract RU 2773339 C1

FIELD: physical processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of processing of various media (gases, liquids, suspensions, liquid-solid phases) by light sources both in a stream and in the stationary mode. Method for adjusting the level of ozone production by a low-pressure UV lamp includes the use of a protective quartz cover put on a bactericidal UV emission lamp, characterised by the fact that the low-pressure UV lamp emitting at a wavelength of 185 and 254 nm is covered along the body with a cover made of doped quartz intercepting the 185 nm emission and only transmitting 254 nm emission, made in the form of a single tube with a gap between the inner surface of the cover and the lamp, the ends of the cover with the lamp are sealed with plugs made of a material not subject to destruction caused by hard UV emission. The cover therein can by any way move, by means of the source of movement, along the lamp, opening and closing the body thereof, wherein if the lamp is fully covered with the cover, the ozone-forming segment of the spectrum at 185 nm is completely intercepted and the source of UV emission is completely ozone-free, and if the cover is shifted to the side, thereby opening part of the lamp, 185 nm emission can be released, affecting the oxygen contained in the air and the oxygen dissolved in a liquid medium, thus leading to the generation of ozone.

EFFECT: invention reduces the energy consumption due to the application of a single source with adjustable ozone production intensity, emitting at two wavelengths (185 and 254 nm), and provides a possibility of using the technology for adjustable ozone production in various production processes, allowing for the concentration of ozone to be maintained at a safe but effective level, in the presence of a bactericidal and oxidative effect.
