FIELD: decontamination of aqueous media and removal of dissolved organic admixtures from water; preparation of aqueous samples for performing chemical analysis of admixtures of heavy metals, arsenic and other elements. SUBSTANCE: method consists in delivery of medium to be treated to reactor and bringing it in contact with ultra-violet radiation source-that is vacuum ultra-violet lamp made in form of two coaxial quartz tubes which are soldered forming circular cavity filled with inert gas with electrode located longitudinally inside lesser cylinder; lamp is fitted coaxially in cylindrical reactor at spaced relation to inner wall; second electrode is made in form of cylindrical grid; electrodes are connected with power supply source having the following parameters: voltage, 8 to 25 kV; frequency, no less than 60 kHz and power, no less than 300 W. Treatment of aqueous medium is performed at delivery of air under pressure to circular clearance between lamp and inner wall of reactor. Use may be made of lamp charged with xenon radiating monochromatic beam at wave length of 172 Nm and bandwidth at half-height corresponding to ±8 Nm relative to maximum. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of process; enhanced efficiency of mineralization of organic admixtures in aqueous media. 4 cl, 1 dwg
