FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to exposure methods of sanitation. Decontamination of liquid or gaseous medium from microorganisms is carried out by irradiation with two or three excilamps with successive passage of the treated medium near said lamps. The time interval for passage from one lamp to the next is equal to 0.1-5 s. The types of excilamps used are selected from fourteen types of existing excilamps in the 170-360 nm range, with fundamental maxima of radiation wavelengths, numbered in ascending order of wavelength based on maximum efficiency of destroying different biological mechanisms of cell functioning. The device has a housing, medium flow agitators, filters for removing the solid phase and at least two excilamps. The excilamps are in form of a cylinder, wherein the axis of the cylinder and the direction of flow of the medium are mutually perpendicular. Alternatively, the excilamps are in form of a torus, wherein the axis of the torus and the direction of flow of the medium are mutually parallel.
EFFECT: efficient decontamination of fluid medium with use of non-mercury-containing radiators, free from photoreaction effects, with longer service life.
