FIELD: high-current switching technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to high-current switching technology and can be used to form multi-megaampere current pulses in low-impedance loads with a rise time of the order of one microsecond or less. The device for forming a multichannel electrical breakdown contains high-voltage electrodes connected to a source of increasing voltage with near-electrode inhomogeneities specifying breakdown locations, a separating solid-state dielectric, an insulated metal foil dividing the solid-state dielectric into two auxiliary gaps, in one of which self-breakdown occurs between the foil and one of the electrodes. The metal foil is made in the form of radial lobes according to the number of near-electrode inhomogeneities in the second gap.
EFFECT: increasing the stability of the formation of the maximum number of current channels with reduced requirements for the quality of the material used and the precision of the assembly of the device as a whole.
