A method for predicting the residual mileage on locomotive circulation sites by sand reserves, according to which the distance of operation of the locomotive to the next equipment is determined, differs in that the residual weight of sand in each sand hopper is determined using level gauges, then the residual mileage is automatically determined by computing complexes based on received information about sand reserves, which is compared with data accumulated during train trips and containing records on the consumption of sand of each sand hopper, information about the stage, the weight of the train, the length of the train, the type of used locomotive and weather conditions.

EFFECT: optimization of driving of trains for uncoupling the locomotive for its equipment.
