SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry, namely the quantitative analysis of the determination of humic substances in aqueous media and can be used in environmental monitoring of drinking, natural and waste water. The method for determining water-soluble humic substances in aqueous media by spectrophotometry includes the use of a colloidal solution of copper (I) oxide as a complexing agent, which is added to the analyzed sample and the optical density of the solution is measured at an absorption maximum λ=260-266 nm using a calibration graph.

EFFECT: simplification of the process of determination of water-soluble humic substances in aqueous media and reduction of analysis time.
