FIELD: oxygen production.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the production of oxygen from an air flow. A method for the production of oxygen is proposed, using vacuum short-cycle adsorption (VSA), using a unit containing at least two adsorbers, each of which follows, with a certain displacement relatively to another one, a pressure change cycle including stages of the production, decompression, blowing, and recompression. The decompression stage includes at least direct-flow first decompression substage for partial pressure alignment with another adsorber performing counter-current recompression, using a balancing valve, and, for at least one cycles of three, a waiting substage following the first decompression substage. For cycles that do not contain the waiting substage, pressure at the end of the first decompression substage is X bar. For cycles that contain the waiting substage, pressure at the end of the decompression substage is X bar. Opening of the balancing valve is the same during the first decompression substage and the waiting substage.
EFFECT: invention allows for the reduction in a number of openings and closings of valves and increase in the reliability of a production plant.
