FIELD: pipe manufacture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of processing by pressure; it can be used in thin-wall pipe bending. A pipe is installed in a machine, axially fed, and bent with a bending head. A flexible mandrel is placed in a bending zone, which is axially moved during bending. A preload force directed along the axial movement is applied to the free end of the flexible mandrel during bending. To create the preload force, a thrust is inserted to a pipe cavity until its end is in contact with the end of the flexible mandrel, and the preload force is applied to it.
EFFECT: increase in the bending quality.
