SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology and microbiology. A method for determining a heteroresistant population in a monospecies culture of fast-growing bacteria is proposed, including cultivation of the studied bacterial culture using liquid nutrient media with and without the addition of an antibiotic, recording the time dependences of the densitometric value of the liquid nutrient medium with the studied culture of fast-growing bacteria in the presence and absence of an antibiotic for up to 8 hours with an interval of 10 seconds to 10 minutes; next, the relative densitometric indicator of the concentration of bacteria is calculated according to the proposed formula and by reducing its value after reaching the maximum value, the presence of a heteroresistant bacterial population is determined.

EFFECT: invention provides an expansion of the arsenal of methods for determining the heterogeneity of bacterial isolate in populations of pathogenic and conditionally pathogenic fast-growing bacteria for the subsequent selection of optimal antibiotic therapy.
