SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for purifying liquids, and is also used to soften and purify hard drinking water from carbonate hardness (reducing the total base number of water) both at home and in production. Method for preventing scaling includes passing the water through a mixture of components containing a granular and a fibrous materials, wherein one of the components of the mixture is a crushed filtering material based on a polymer with a globular structure, containing silver, and wherein complexing additives are introduced into the mixture in the range of 0.3 to 3 wt.% of the mixture, ensuring uniform release into the water in the dynamic mode, in concentrations not exceeding the TLV, and said mixture of the granular and fibrous material ensures the absorption of excessively dissolved complexing additives in static conditions.

EFFECT: ensured effective long-term purification of liquids in static and dynamic modes.
