FIELD: cosmonautics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ensuring the safety of flight in the near-Earth space. Method includes bringing a space vehicle (SV) to the area being cleared from items of space debris (SD), equipped with containers with a large-meshed net made of carbon nanotubes provided with inflatable cylinders on the surface thereof. After detecting an SD item, measuring the parameters of movement thereof, and approaching the SV, the longitudinal axis of the container is aimed in the direction of the SD item, and the net is pushed out and unrolled in space. The SD item is gripped, covered and/or hooked by the net, and the cylinders are pressurised at the signal of the corresponding sensors. As a result of aerodynamic braking of the inflatable cylinders with the net and the SD, the SD is transferred to the orbit of entry into the dense atmosphere.
EFFECT: increase in the efficiency of clearing the near-Earth space from large-sized SD items, including non-stabilised items.
