FIELD: space technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to space technology and can be used to accelerate the deorbit of a spacecraft that has exhausted its resource. To decelerate the spacecraft in orbit, a network of carbon nanotubes is deployed, and inflatable balloons made of a film of carbon nanotubes are placed inside the network in the form of a three-dimensional geometric structure. In this case, the surface of the inflatable balloons is covered with a highly reflective film. The method for accelerating the deorbiting of a spacecraft consists in braking the bundle of the spacecraft and the large-mesh network of carbon nanotubes with inflatable balloons due to the pressure of solar radiation acting on the balloons, as well as due to the interaction of the electrically conductive threads of the network of carbon nanotubes with a magnetic field of the Earth and aerodynamic braking of inflatable balloons in highly rarefied layers of the Earth's atmosphere.
EFFECT: reliability of the functioning of the spacecraft deorbit is increased.
