FIELD: chemical processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of isotopic separation of water molecules containing heavy hydrogen and oxygen isotopes. Method for isotopic separation of water molecules consists in the fact that in the course of evacuation of a rectifying unit with annular attachment structures, the water therein is boiled, cooled in the steam entrainment due to the latent vaporisation heat, and is further maintained by heating at a temperature whereat molecules with heavy hydrogen isotopes reach the freezing point and become low-active. The above allows concentration of molecules with heavy hydrogen isotopes in water films on the wetted surface of rotating annular attachment structures partially immersed in water, while molecules with light hydrogen isotopes are removed from the rectifying drum unit by means of a vacuum pump. The rotation of the annular attachment structures on immersing the attachments in water ensures the enrichment of the water with heavy hydrogen isotopes at the contact thereof with the films of the attachments due to diffusion.
EFFECT: invention increases the efficiency of separation of water molecules by hydrogen isotopes while reducing the energy consumption and can be used in the atomic industry, biology, medicine and in the production of therapeutic drinking water.
