FIELD: navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to navigation in ice conditions, in particular to underwater vessels floating in conditions of solid ice cover and breaking it by a resonance method. In the implementation, during the movement of the vessel, seawater is pumped inside the vessel, using a pump located in its water-flow channel. A water-intake part of the channel is located on the upper surface of the bow end of the vessel at the location of a sole of a flexural gravity wave, and an output of the channel is located on the aft end. Turning the pump on and off is performed periodically with a frequency of resonant flexural gravity waves for a time equal to half their period.
EFFECT: excitation in the ice of additional resonant flexural gravity waves, which will increase ice-breaking capability of a vessel.
