SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to biotechnology. A method for protecting piglets from Streptococcus suis pathogenic infection is presented, which provides for the introduction of a vaccine containing an immunologically effective amount of antigen based on Streptococcus suis IgM protease and its use. In this case, the vaccine is administered only once, and the vaccine contains a maximum of no more than 120 micrograms of antigen per dose.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain a highly effective method for combating the pathogenic infection of Streptococcus suis when using small doses of the vaccine and its single administration.
