FIELD: wastewater treatment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for thermal disinfection of activated sludge used for biological wastewater treatment, in which: first, the sludge used for biological wastewater treatment is dehydrated; after that, the activated sludge is disinfected with steam inside a sealed container and a pressure above atmospheric pressure is created inside the above-mentioned container by supplying steam at an excess pressure of at least 1.5 atmospheres and at a temperature of at least 70°C, and the time during which the activated sludge is treated depends on the temperature of the steam and the volume and/or mass of the treated active sludge.
EFFECT: expansion of the range of solutions for wastewater treatment.
