The effect is achieved due to the fact that the area for placing equipment located on the front surface of the vertical guide rack is equipped with an optical machine-readable mark of the area, placing the mentioned area mark within the mentioned area in height, so that the equipment installed on the mentioned area does not cover the digital code of the mentioned plot marks; equipping the piece of equipment with an optical machine-readable label of equipment, and placing said label of equipment in such a way that the lower edge of said label of equipment is located from the upper edge of the front surface of the body of said piece of equipment at a distance not greater than the height of said area for placing equipment; both marks are read by the reader, while monitoring the vertical movement of the reader between the moments of reading the first and second marks; localize equipment.

EFFECT: increasing the reliability of equipment localization in a telecommunications rack.
