FIELD: biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for the synthesis of alpha-ketomethylselenobutyrate, a product of the conversion of L-selenomethionine. The proposed method is characterized by the fact that an aqueous solution of the amino acid L-selenomethionine is created in a concentration from 10 to 200 mM, the pH is adjusted to 6-9 and the transformation is carried out under the action of a biocatalyst: oxidases of L-amino acids from Crotalus adamanteus, keeping the reaction mixture at 10-30°C stirring until the maximum yield of alpha-ketomethylselenobutyrate is reached, the solution is deproteinized by ultrafiltration, the solution is passed through a cation exchange column in H-form, fractions containing alpha-ketomethylselenobutyric acid are combined, the target product is extracted with an organic solvent and after removal of the organic solvent, the preparation alpha-ketomethylselenobutyrate is obtained.
EFFECT: development of the preparative synthesis of alpha-ketomethylselenobutyrate as a result of the conversion of L-selenomethionine under the action of L-amino acid oxidase with a yield of at least 40%.
