SUBSTANCE: proposed device relates to the field of antenna technology and can be used in the construction of antenna devices with a switchable radiation pattern for corporate, mobile communication systems, as well as special-purpose communication systems. The substance of the claimed device lies in the fact that the controlled passive element consists of the first conductor with a length of 0.5 λ and a second conductor with a length of less than 0.25 λ located parallel to it, while the end of the first conductor and the end of the second conductor located opposite it are connected by a switching element that controls the radiation pattern of the antenna device by giving the passive element either the property of a reflector or the property of "invisibility" to external radiation.

EFFECT: simplifying the design of a controlled passive element for antenna devices, halving the number of switching elements while maintaining the characteristics of the element compared to the prototype.
