FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for the lap connection of materials not directly welded to each other, in particular a sheet of stainless steel and a sheet of aluminum or aluminum alloy, or magnesium or magnesium alloy. At the first stage, a protective aluminum layer is applied to the surface of steel base (1) by thermal spraying. At the second stage, a method for contact welding is used for welding protective layer (2) to overlayed sheet (3), while the ratio of a thickness of thermally sprayed layer (2) to an achieved diameter of welding point (4) is less than or equal to 0.25, and a temperature in a contact area between base (1) and thermally sprayed coating layer is less than 350°C. Used welding parameters are selected in such a way that only a contact zone of aluminum with aluminum is melted, in the absence of fragile intermetallic phases between an aluminum layer and steel.
EFFECT: method provides for quality welding connection, while combining non-welded dissimilar metals.
