FIELD: pyrochemical reprocessing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to pyrochemical reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel (SNF) and can be used in the process of reprocessing the metal product of the operation of electrolytic refining of spent nuclear fuel containing actinides and noble metals by including fast neutron reactors in the closed nuclear fuel cycle (CNFC) technology. The method includes the conversion of metallic uranium and actinides into chlorides by chemical dissolution in a chloride melt, into which a chlorinating agent is introduced in portions, while during the entire process of extracting actinides from metal products, the melt is monitored for the content of a chlorinating agent and an actinide extraction product, as well as measure the redox potential of the chloride melt. When the addition of a fresh portion of the chlorinating agent does not lead to a potential shift to the negative region, the process of transition of uranium from nuclear fuel to the chloride melt is completed.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to quickly control the completeness of conversion of actinides from a metal product.
