FIELD: nuclear physics, nuclear technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear power engineering. Method of processing fuel elements with nitride spent nuclear fuel involves dissolving fragments thereof to obtain an electrolytic solution containing actinide compounds suitable for their release. Dissolution of fuel elements with spent nuclear fuel is carried out by chlorination in a chloride melt containing PbCl2 chloride. Chlorination is carried out at temperature from 400 to 750 °C.
EFFECT: invention enables to exclude the stage of separation of fuel element shells from spent nuclear fuel and ensure degree of conversion of spent nuclear fuel to chlorides of actinides (particularly, UCl3 chloride) to 100 %.
