Mining of the coal seam is carried out by horizontal steps when the shearer is moving in reverse from the boundary of the extraction chamber or by vertical steps when the shearer is moving from the side of the cut to the boundary of the extraction chamber. Transportation of coal from the extraction chamber is carried out on the ledge of the cut in the stack.
