FIELD: optical measuring methods.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to optical methods for measuring the velocity fields of plane flows of liquids or gases or two components of spatial flows of liquids or gases using a visualization method. In the method for determining the flow rate of a liquid or gas, an easily detectable “liquid particle” is used as a flow marker, and cross-correlation analysis and related mathematical processing are replaced by direct visual selection and identification of the “liquid particle”.
EFFECT: providing a safe mode of operation that is simple to implement, while maintaining the ability to investigate two-dimensional flows of liquids or gases in a large dynamic range of velocity measurements.
